Just picked up a grom, needs some work, insights appreciated!
My uncle owns a towing company. He got me a crashed grom for free. I've always wanted a grom and was going to buy one on craigslist but why not just build this one for free! It's going to be a great winter project.
As far as I can see, the forks are bent, front wheel might be bent as well. The battery is completely dead. It needs plastics, a taillight and a headlight. Overall, its pretty rigged up, but nothing some TLC can't fix.
So I found a used OEM black fairing kit for $80 on craigslist which I am debating picking up. I see used OEM front forks going for around $300 on ebay, but I don't know if it's worth getting a set because from what I've read they're junk. I see brand new chinese forks for the grom online going for $120, but I feel like I should just get the OEM ones.
All in all, my goal with thing thing is to have a decent grom for less than $1000. If anyone has any insights on what parts I should throw on it, or how I should go about fixing it up, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!
