Sort of new to the bike world, do Taiwanese built Honda bikes have a good reputation? cause hearing it's being built in taiwan doesn't really wow me nor am i disappointed.
I didn't realize Taiwan is building Honda again.

A Honda is still a Honda. I have a Taiwanese Yamaha (Zuma 125) and it's rather solid, with thousands of miles on it. My local scooter shop also sells Kymco bikes (also Taiwanese) and they tell me they never get those bikes back for anything but routine maintenance. When it comes to EFI engines in the smaller CCs, you couldn't ask for a better place to make them. They love their smaller bikes/scooters out there; as it's the #1 form of transportion, by a longshot.

I don't know of any Taiwanese bikes sold in the USA that have a bad rep.
I agree. Don't let where it's made turn you off. Small CC bikes are the most popular form of transportation apart from walking haha. They know what they are doing.
I really wouldn't be worried about this bike being built in Taiwan, if anything it's probably a good thing. Already it seems to be a well built bikes without any issues being reported for the time it's been out.
Got mine today, the quality of the construction, paint, plastics, finish, wiring neatness is extraordinary. I have owned large and small European, Chinese and Japanese bikes over the last 10 years and the quality of this little beast is one of the best I have seen by a long-shot.

Is the Grom, the only Honda bike or car being made in Taiwan. I don't see anything about a Taiwan manufacturing plant owned by Honda on Wiki.
Interesting a japanese motorcycle built in taiwan. I never knew they owned a plant out there but is the labour that cheap for them to have a plant out there.

it's possible, i dont think a market like that calls for many bigger more powerful bikes. wouldnt be surprised if this is one of few low output bikes produced there by honda
So what was Hondas exact target use/replacement for this bike?
Horseplay, hoonage, stunts commute, mini streetfighter or whatever you desire!
minigp racer!
A Taiwanese built Honda is better than a Chinese built Honda knockoff. Just sayin'. I really like the rock solid dependability of the Hondas I've owned in the past... both of those were more than 20 years old.
It really depends on the quality control and the engineering of the design.

Both of which I trust Honda with. So even if it was made in China I think that would be ok.

Plus how else do you think they kept the cost down so low?
A Taiwanese built Honda is better...
Thailand, not Taiwan. They are totally different countries.

I thought I saw a china knockoff of the grom on some china ebay like site. So for you guys out there looking to get a deal with unauthorized bike places be on the look out.
