What is everyone doing for their break in period?

Following the manual or something else?

Right now I am following the manual because its why I have always done in the past.. But this 40MPH top speed is killing me!

Right now I am following the manual because its why I have always done in the past.. But this 40MPH top speed is killing me!

The only time I was above the RMP was on my ride home, right off the showroom floor onto the freeway, it was great, but then I have been babying it ever since.

Like you I had to drive home from the dealer on a freeway. It was a fast moving freeway, afterwork hours, going uphill. I had no choice but to go at least 70mph to avoid getting killed. Only a 13 mile ride, so I think the bike will be fine.

As for now I only ride on the streets. I'm easy off the line in first, but once I get going I give it the juice. The bike was made to rev high. After a couple hundred miles I'll be using it for freeway travel, business as usual.

I think a mix of soft and someone hard break in is the way to go, not pushing it too hard but enough to get it out of it's "soft range"
