I try to go at least once a year. LOVE IT.

Last year was the first time I took my S1000RR. Took a little getting used to it compared to my CBR600. handled the dragon well, but I could tell feel the difference.

Im hoping to blast down there after I get the Grom and bring both bikes. I think the Grom with be a blast on those twisties. Gets me pumped just thinking about it.

we go 2-3x a year.. i usually ride a honda ruckus though.. but once i get my GROM we will head down to deals gap for sure.. we have a ride planned in late Sept if we all get GROMS by then.. i have made killboys highlights a few times over the years.. this was last year
Bitchin!!! How does the Ruckus handle the dragon?

Im usually there around the same time... Mid September. I just hate those dewy mornings with all the fallen leaves... can make for a sketchy morning run.

ruckus does great.. its light so it can be thrown around the curves.. up hill still suxs cause its a 50cc but down hill we usually bomb those harleys out of the way.. we either stay in robbinsville or in townsend, tn and ride the foothills parkway down to 129..

Started going to "the gap" in 2005 and have probably spent 45 days down there in about 8 trips. Midweek riding is always the best and hitting all the other roads other than the Dragon are what really make for a great trip.
yep.. just about any road up here in Western NC is a great motorcycle road.. in my area they have the Devil's Whip.. DiamondBack.. etc.. plus near Robbinsville is the Cherohala Skyway.. we always hit that when we go..

I made the trip up in 1996 with my brand spanking new 1996 GSXR750SRAD.I did the dragon in 2007 on my heavily modified 89 GS500.I always hit the dragon on mondays or turesdays around 9 or 10 in the morning.I am about 2 to 2.5 hours ride from there.

Get out there and do it.Plan a group event and camp out if you are traveling there.Rent a turck and/or trailer and bring the bikes.A friend and myself have done that.He brought three bikes and I brought one.It was fun changing out bikes with him.

I basically live here and have been riding it for years on sportbikes, motards, and scooters. Its popularity has become its worst attribute...

Local knowledge... EastTNriders.com - Deal's Gap and the Cherohala Skyway

I can agree to that.I have once been there and it was bumper to bumper from one end to the other.Mostly kids in hopped up jap cars.Once found a rig across the road and half rolled over.
