Is a license required to ride the Grom? I don't know how it works around the world, but I'm wondering how it works in the US and Canada? I don't have a motorcycle license yet but if I were to pick up the Grom, could I ride it in my local streets without any problems without a license?

You do, it's nothing like riding a mini-bike, it's a legit motorcycle that you need to register and have a license for (US & Can) . You should work on getting your motorcycle license by time the Grom comes out.

There's even a license plate bracket that comes with these bikes and full lighting and everything to comply with the laws in your area, as seen below:

A license is required for an operating vehicle on the road. The only ones where you don't is the little mini pocket 50cc bikes. But then again those are illegal they are just good on private property.

True but you can just use it for riding on your own land or tow it around to different places that are private. The only time where you would get in trouble is when you ride on public roads.

Lets not give guys the wrong idea now. I don't want to see bad things happen with the Grom. I could see guys not having a license just occasionally riding on the streets.

In the US, I think it depends on the state. In Canada, it's illegal everywhere.

that's true, although they are illegal some cops tend to ignore them cause without being aware that they are illegal you'd think they would be totally legal due to their size. plus it's so common to see people riding mini bikes on small streets.

the public will see the grom as a real bike unlike mini-bike

Thanks. It seemed like a silly question to ask.

But I did learn about the legality of mini bikes. That explains why I only see mini bikes at car shows and on small streets in cottage country.
