I've been riding about five years, got my first bike a '77 honda CB550 a few months after I bought my first house. Paid $500 for it and ended up selling it three years later for $550, putting only some oil and a replacing a leaking oil pressure sensor ($15) and tach ($20). I regretted selling it and bought my second bike about 6 months later, a 2009 Kawasaki KLX250SF, which I still have. Earlier this year the hankering for a CB got me and I started searching, found a clean '71 CB500 which in the end still needs some work but I'm happy to have it in the garage and it's not getting sold.

I learned about the Grom when mad8vskillz posted a thread on a "mainly" vw forum when it was announced back in May.

Oddly his thread title was - I want this goofy little bike - VWVortex.com - I want this goofy little bike!! and he ends up winning one.

It came right when my initial excitement over the new Star bolt was wearing off. I kind of thought about getting one but wasn't really ready to go put a deposit down and buy one completely sight unseen. So when August rolled around and they started making their way into dealers I didn't think too much of it other than I'd like to see one in a dealer or find someone in CT with one.

Getting to a dealer is generally tough for me. I work 6 days a week since I started a new job in June, and only rarely and without much warning do I have any days off or get to leave work before 5,6, or even 7pm.

So last Wednesday I actually had a day off and a local dealer showed "limited stock" on their website for the Grom with no photo. I got on my other bike and rode down thinking whatever they had might even be gone. Low and behold it was just sitting there.

As I assume most weekdays are fairly slow so I had the full attention of the salesperson. I just wanted to sit on it, and did. Felt good, not too small, nice and light, yadda yadda. He wanted to jump to let's run some numbers. At first I didn't want to waste his time but there wasn't anything else going on there. I was honest early on and told him I already got turned down from the online Honda Finance app. He was surprised and wanted to keep going.

To make a long story short (Too late). Got approved and rode home on my new grom. Left my other bike in their storage building and finally picked that up today.

What I kind of assumed about the online app is was right, they figured I was looking for something more expensive. It just let you choose motorcycle type not model and on their site the grom is technically under "sport". That they told me at the dealer is that Honda received that as VFR1200F with an MSRP of $15,999 and I was requesting a 36 month loan... So as a word of advice don't use Honda's online credit app, or maybe just choose scooter even though you want to buy a grom.

Prepped and ready to go outside the dealer

And now today, just the seat strap and front reflectors removed. tidy tail will be ordered soon.

Hopefully one day I will have a story like yours. Mine will have to start with ... "My girlfriend let me spend more money on motorcycles .... "

Hi!

Hopefully one day I will have a story like yours. Mine will have to start with ... "My girlfriend let me spend more money on motorcycles .... "
No girlfriend here, hence the motorcycle overload.

Now my story will continue to how do I save my Grom? I just lost my job so while I could sell it now and eliminate a monthly payment, I think I'll sell one of my other bikes first.
