Any idea where Honda plans to build the new Grom bikes? I know that it has been on sale internationally with the name of MSX125. But will the bikes being sold in North America be built in the same plant or does Honda have other plans?

i believe the Grom and MSX125 manufacturing plant is in Thailand. Another good question would be is are there any parts or sections of the MSX125 built anywhere else and then added to the Grom/MSX125 in it's Thailand plant?

Wouldnt be surprised if there was some involvement from a Honda Japan manufacturing plant.

It will be hard to gauge where the Honda Grom will manufactured since there are so many manufacturing plants allover the world when it comes to Honda Powersports.

That is one of the perks living in Thailand having access right away to any motorcycle since they are basically being built in your backyard. don't have to pay import fees and have to wait for you bike to be shipped.

Exactly, delivery time is cut down by a lot, just imagine all the work Honda has to go through to import the Grom from Thailand to the u.s., my best guess is that it will take around a month at least to get here.

Anyone know the usual turn around time?

Reason why its so popular there. And because smaller CC bikes are popular in general over there. Huge market.

That is understandable for that country, they wouldn't start manufacturing super sport bikes there since it would be of no use for such a small place. Majority of MSX125 owners are in Thailand.

Not to mention the huge aftermarket support they have over there right now.

The only other way I see them making other bikes is because of the cheaper labor cost but now they would have to factor in shipping and importing.

Yes Indeed...

For any of the lower displacement bikes. The best place though just the same for cars as it is for bikes is in Japan. Honda manufacture just about any and every bike and they have the nice highways where you can test out the top speeds...not legally like on the Autobahn in Germany of course.

Wow. I always thought all Hondas were made In Japan. I guess there are so many strange little Honda models out there, that it only makes sense that some would be made in another country where they are popular.

There are Hondas made all over the world. Hondas that are made in Japan are becoming rare actually.

Yeah true! Motorcycles in Thailand is their means of transportation. Cars are rare.

The four largest motorcycle markets in the world are China, India, Indonesia, and Vietnam which makes sense why Honda has a manufacturing plant nearby.

I think Thailand is up there too.
