I just ordered some 20wt oil with my RevZilla tire purchase today!! I was thinking that the whole time about using the triple clamp as a vice since I don't have one yet.

 

also just ordered some 30wt

 

how are all you guys lifting the front end up, my pitbull triple stem stand needs me to remove the headlight to use it, anybody else run into this issue, or please post up some of your ideas on how you lifted the front end to remove the forks?

 

I lifted mine using a flat strap through the bars and a car lift only did it.to take the wheel off and clean tho im jusy gonna pay dps to swap my fluid and the racetech springs gonna hold off on valves cause thats getting spendy and I think there are plenty of options for swaps like the 31mm usd showa cr forks the top triple might need to be.modified or custom. Im taking my time though cause my grom is a one owner kinda toy

 

Actually changing damping does a lot for bottoming forks. If the springs are progressive more preload will helps as well with bottoming out forks.

 

Waiting for shop to open to go pick up some 30 weight fork oil.

where did you find 30wt fork oil? i found 20wt, that being the highest i highest so far locally...

 

I also have the issue of finding things locally. You're better off looking for them on craigslist or even going on ebay or finding some vendor that carries it.

 

Often, you have to order the 30 wt fork oil. Most shops just carry up to 20 wt. Every now and again someplace like Cycle Gear or one of the real big shops might have a bottle of 30 wt around.

Mine was red and quite thick - not quite as thick as the 30wt silkolene - but still quite thick

C ouldn't you use a vinyl tube and syringe to suck oil out of forks, instead of taking forks apart? An old gear oil pump off of gallon gear oil would probably work!

I just did this over the weekend and replaced it with BelRay 20wt and the result was actually worse bottoming out twice as easy.... Thinking a heavier weight is definitely needed. I'm about 195-200 with gear.

 

Should get about190-200cc out of forks. Added an extra 10cc . 30 weight make mine so much better.

 

I easily got 220ml out, gotta pump the forks more for that last lil bit. Im bottoming when I do 2up so imma try 30wt next
